2009 Buddhist Youth Leadership Training India 2009 印度佛教青年讲习之旅










The Buddhist Youth Leadership Training (BYLT) was held from 26 Jan to 1 Feb 2009. The BYLT was held at Saddhammapradip Buddhist Retreat Center Bhaje, Pune, India. The BYLT was conducted by Dr. Ong See Yew, Vice President of World Fellowship of Buddhist Youth and President of Young Buddhist Association of Malaysia. Dr. Ong was assisted by Lee Jin Hwa who is the Chairperson of the Subang Jaya Buddhist Association Youth Section.

There were a total of 27 participants from all over India. The participants are active member of the National Network of Buddhist Youth (NNBY) and are working on a task group structure. There are currently 15 task groups all over India with around a total of 150 active members. There are 1 National Convention, 2 Regional Conventions and 3 Youth Gatherings a year on the NNBY calendar.


The group learning objectives have been decided during the beginning of the training and are as follows:

1. To identify the qualities of a Leader
2. To improve on ones Dhamma and to be able to relate it to daily life
3. Conflict Management
4. To have a balanced personal development
5. To understand the Vision of NNBY
6. To improve on Communication Skills
7. To Develop Friendship (Kalyana Mitra)
8. Team improve the co-operation between participants (Team Building)
9. To create an environment to encourage the sharing of resources
10. To have FUN and JOY
